TTC Timeline

  • August 2011:  Married!
  • March 2012:  Pulled the goalie!
  • March – August 2012:  All BFNs
  • August 2012:  Had routine screening (FSH, LH, etc) and no issues were found.  Dr. said that he would refer us to a specialist to do further testing.
  • September 2012:  BFN.  Saw first RE.  Hubby had his first SA.  I had my AMH tested and some other tests done.  SA came back with great quantity and motility but only 4% morph.  We were told that his morph was borderline normal, and DH received a long list of vitamins to take.  My AMH was on the low side too.  It was 1.2.
  • October 2012:  First IUI (negative)
  • November 2012:  BFN.  Decided to switch to CCRM.  Went to CCRM and re-did all testing.  This time DH SA came back with 3% morph, but we were told that it was a great sample and that we do not have any male factor issues.  Also, my AMH was a bit higher at 1.5.  Told to do 3 IUIs and move to IVF if not successful.
  • December 2012:  2nd IUI.  First BFP on Christmas Day.  However, it was a very, very light positive.  Took another test the following day, and it was getting lighter and lighter.  Got HCG checked and it was very low.  We were told that it was probably a chemical pregnancy.  It was…
  • January 2013:  Cyst found.  IUI cancelled. Tried the old-fashioned way.  Got a BFP a few days before my birthday.  This time much darker second line.  Beta checked and the number looked great.  Checked a couple of days later and it more than doubled!  Progesterone looked great.  Set an appt for 6 1/2 weeks for first ultrasound.
  • February 2013:  Went in for first ultrasound, but couldn’t see a fetal pole.  Told to come back in one week to see if it was just too early.  Unfortunately, the 2nd appt confirmed it was a blighted ovum.  We were told to expect to miscarry.  Decided to miscarry naturally.
  • March 2013:  Finally miscarried.  HCG fell slowly. Told to take a couple cycles off from trying.
  • April 2013:  Planned trip to Mexico to relax during our TTC hiatus.  Waiting for first normal period after miscarriage. It was taking longer than expected, so we decide to take a hpt (There was this one time we did the dance without a goalie after the miscarriage.  It was after everything had passed, but before we got a negative hcg so we thought that there was no way that I could be ovulating.).  DH bought a digital pregnancy test.  My heart skipped a beat and my stomach dropped when it read “pregnant.”  I thought there was absolutely no way.  Given our history, we went to the store to buy a test with two lines so that we could see how dark it was.  Another really light line, assumed it was a chemical.  Got HCG results, and it was.  Needed to take off a couple of months from TTC.
  • May 2013:  Went to Mexico for some much needed rest and relaxation.  DH and I took a million more tests (recurring pregnancy loss panel, chromosome analysis, genetic testing etc.) before we left and everything came back normal.  RE recommended IVF with CCS testing.  We decided we would try for two more months on our own before IVF.  If we weren’t pregnant in two months or had another loss, then we would go directly to IVF.
  • June 2013:  Still on a TTC break
  • July 2013:  3rd chemical (4th loss).  Go directly to IVF, do not pass go, do not collect $200 pay $30,000.
  • August 2013:  Start stims.  Over halfway through the stim process we were told that they recommend embryo banking.  Just when we thought that we were so close to being done, we found out that we need to do this all over again (and again, and maybe again).
  • September 2013:  Retrieved 11 eggs, 8 mature, 5 fertilized. Froze the 5 embies, while we stockpile more.
  • October 2013:  Starting round 2……
